Terry’s California Backyard – FineGardening


We’re in Northridge, California at present, visiting with Terry Sanders:

I stay and backyard in a really extraordinary suburban neighborhood. This can be a picture of a part of my entrance yard with roses and butterfly bush (Buddleia davidii, Zone 5- 9) in bloom.

This can be a picture of one of many parking strips in entrance of my home. Through the Covid lockdown I eliminated all of my grass and put in drip irrigation and largely pollinator vegetation. The pink flowers are gaura (Oenothera lindheimeri, Zone 5 – 9) and Penstemon digitalis (Zone 3 – 8).

I’m very fortunate to have very good soil as a result of I stay on a creek that used to flood through the winter earlier than it was cemented in. Just about all the things grows.
