I’ve used small blocks to barely tip a few of my pots to assist with full draining. I hope all of your timber are loving all of the rain water as a lot as mine. They don’t miss the faucet water.

I’ve heard considerations from a few of our members that not all of their deciduous timber have leafed out. March 2023 Assembly Highlights

We had an awesome turnout for the March assembly to look at Tak Shimazu do his magic with a Japanese black pine.
Additionally, our one-time use of the Oak Room went properly and included recent espresso and engaging cookies from the Peacock Café.

Tak Shimazu

Tak labored on a pine tree the membership had bought on the Bonsai-A-Thon for the demo.
He talked about a few of the branches being too elongated for good proportion within the design. The treatment was to chop again to smaller buds on a department, the place potential, to carry the foliage nearer to the trunk and make for a extra tapered design from backside to high. Some potential buds wanted extra time to develop earlier than reducing branches again.

Tak wired and positioned branches into a lovely casual upright type.
He left a few choices for the ultimate apex that relied on the longer term development of the highest.
The ultimate design was a beautiful starting for the longer term growth of the tree.

Jim Pelling was the enthusiastic raffle winner of Tak’s tree.

Along with this demonstration black pine, Tak donated a mame elm tree to our raffle. Anthony Giandomencio was the fortunate raffle winner of the gorgeous little tree.
